Taking care of your handcrafted wooden furniture…
Finish:
Our solid wood furniture pieces are coated with a strong clear varnish/ lacquer, natural oils or wax depending on the product and your request..
Care:
Solid woods can change size expanding or contracting due to changes in temperature and humidity. So, it’s normal for small cracks and gaps to show up in the wood as time passes. Be careful not to put your furniture near heaters or anywhere that goes through big changes in heat or dampness. We advise using mats for all kitchen items and drinks, and if anything spills, clean it up right away.
Cleaning:
To clean, use a damp cloth and then buff with a dry one. For stubborn marks, a mild detergent on the cloth can help. Avoid using polishes with silicone on the wood because they can build up and make the surface sticky. Don’t use sanitizers or bleach either; they break down the varnish / lacquer’s properties, making it soft. Soft varnish/lacquer is more likely to peel, change color, and get marked.
Heat:
Don’t put hot things like dishes right on the table. Use a heat-resistant mat or trivet to keep from pulling out moisture, which can leave a permanent ring mark on the wood.
